I was recently approached by a top Wedding Vendor to shoot her very own wedding details. Her day was dreamy and she went with photographer from out of town and as wedding days go, some of the tiny details got overlooked. I was thrilled to shoot these with her becauseI know how hard brides work on their weddings and every little thing took thought and has been carefully chosen.
Shooting these shots took me back to when I first started wedding photography… I was a wedding planner for a few years and needed to have quality images to advertise my work. I felt awful bugging the photographers for their shots after the weddings so I bought my first “fancy” camera [canon rebel sl1]. I toted with me every weekend and shot all things tablescapes, florals, guestbooks etc.
I found that after many weddings, brides would reach out and ask if I got shots of XYZ because they didn’t get any in their wedding albums. One day it clicked and the “I think I could do this” got etched into my mind. I knew weddings from the inside out, all of the things that could go wrong, I had witnessed. But I often missed out on the beautiful sentimental moments and became hungry for the full experience through my lens.
A love for all of the details grew into a love for all of the beautiful moments within those sweet wedding days.
Along with the big moments, I always make sure to take time at weddings to shoot those smaller details… So you can look back on your photos and remember the day that you planned your butt off to have and how beautiful everything truly was.
